Today I have to start working on a new Living Room design. What’s on your radar for your next decorating project?

My journey to Willow House started differently than most ladies (and a few gents) did. I went looking for them. I knew my decorating business is a luxury for most. Even though I am affordable during this perpetually bunk economy that doesn’t favor me. I went looking for something to supplement my business with. Something I could offer my clients and be proud of. I’d hate to offer them some junk and tarnish my reputation.

So I started searching for direct sales companies. There are a few that sell home decor. Let’s just say that without naming others that they weren’t my cup of tea. They were too “country” for me. I knew if my heart wasn’t strongly behind them I couldn’t be either.

I came across Willow House. Now as I come to find, I wasn’t the only one who drools over there stuff! I mean, I’ll probably get in trouble for writing this, but I love their stuff like a druggie loves their fix. Like Lindsay Lohan loves her botoxed lips. Like Richard Simmons loves his short shorts. You get it. I love the stuff!

At this point I hadn’t been to a Willow House party. Never heard of it. In fact, I have only been to one direct sales company party and that was some candle party years ago. So I had no idea what any of these deals were all about.

She got back to me and when I say this, she knows I love her, but she talks so darn fast she could have been telling me how to rebuild a Porsche engine. I don’t know. All I knew was I wanted in.

Knowing the world would end the following year, I figured I had nothing to lose by joining. I could get some fabulous decor for my home and make a few bucks having a few parties. The Apocalypse could come and it would have been a great thing. I just wanted to get in da club.

I started with Willow House in October 2011. I became a qualified consultant the next month all the while my friends wondered what I got myself into.

You and I both know that there are some peeps out there that are leery of party plan and direct sales companies. Leery that their friend is joining a cult and doesn’t even know it! They fear you will become one of those perky selling ladies that seems to have her head on automatic bobble with the ever present smile. Fearful that you are going to sell them something they don’t want and can’t find a polite way to tell you to step off. Thank goodness it isn’t a cult and it’s awesome product, huh?

Even though my humor is more dry and sarcastic, I’m a part of Willow House. I had one of my favorite clients say I was like Chelsea Handler. I’ll take it. You and I both know that I am not at all like a lot of the people who join Willow House and that’s okay. Really. I know that by being who I am is how I am blessed with the clients I have. Word.

Starting 2012 I have new goals. I have pretty much decided the Apocalypse must postpone itself because I love Willow House too much! I want to move up in the company. I do! I want to have my own team, I want to become a Director, I want to have killer fun parties, I want to meet lots of new friends and more than anything else I want to share these products that are made of such high quality with other women who love getting a deal as much as I do!

I know by this point in the story you must think the chick is brainwashed. She is absolutely crazy like Britney Spears the time she shaved her head! Maybe I am. I’m a little bit crazy. Crazy for Willow House, I tell ya! If you were ever wondering if it’s the place for you.. I invite you to ask me. Ask me any question you want! Maybe it’s the right place for you now. Maybe it will be in the future or maybe you just want to be one of my best customers. Just know, my focus has shifted a little bit and this doesn’t mean I’m dropping design at all. It just means I’m loving me some Willow House a lil bit more right now

Now you know why you know why you’re seeing so much Willow House info coming out of my pie hole. And it’s all good. And you’ll be seeing more of it here on my blog.

Maybe you are thinking Willow House might be a good fit for you. You know, you don’t have to have any experience. Really. Look at me, I am a spaz in front of groups. It’s like someone let Robin Williams out in front of people on a day he was on cocaine. But, apparently my party chicks like me that way. p.s. Just because I am a spaz, and sometimes I’m less than as “professional” as some people would like me to be, my spazziness in no way means that Willow House is spazzy. In fact, their products are beyond awesome! Everyone who has Willow House in their home becomes a raving fan not only for its beauty but for its quality and all the compliments that receive for the stuff. And, if you ever have me hold a party for you in your home, know that I can behave myself… if you really want me to, but whether you select the spazzed out Alycia or the toned down model, know that Customer Service has and always will be my first concern!

Now, every dining room has it’s own feel even if it does have multiple uses. It’s the look and feel it needs to have when guests come over to actually eat in it.

So when I got the opportunity to design a dining room I had to create an identity for it. Which is I guess what I do a lot. I translate my client’s dreams for their rooms into a design which means the space has got to get an identity as unique as its client.

Now, as of right now, my client has been super busy and life happened. What does that mean. She hasn’t even opened her email to see this design. WHAT?! Yeah, it happens. But, I want you to see it, so here we go!

By the way, I’m noticing a brown trend in colors. Don’t worry, my next project will remedy that.

Maggie came to me with the need of a home office and photo design studio. She needs a place to work, to shoot beautiful photographs and a space to meet with clients to review the photos. Seems like a lot to put in one place, right? Well it is, but if you can make areas for certain function you will have a multi-functioning space in no time.

Start over on the right where you walk up the stairs… I placed a table and chair in the corner along with a fabric bench in the hallway. It wasn’t for someone who was all tuckered out after they hoofed it up the stairs, but rather items that look beautiful and double as photography props.

As we walk further into the space you run into a round table which is always great for meetings. There are no corners to bump into and allow for easier movement or cuddling… if you do that with your clients. LOL

The white rectangles in the space are Maggie’s existing Ikea Expedit bookshelves in two different heights. Back to back I used them as a divider from client meetings and her photo taking area.

Across from the client meeting area we find the office area where I placed Maggie’s existing Pottery Barn desk. Now since I moved her photography area to back of the space, there was no place for the “corner” desk that usually needs a wall. I fixed that problem by moving her Pottery Barn bookshelf behind her desk and made it a wall. It’s accessible from the photo area and can easily hold small props she can use in her photography.

Lastly there is a chair and table in her photography area. More functional props. The key was that Maggie had existing furniture she needed to keep and it didn’t all match. No problem! By turning that into a plus, we created an eclectic design that is so multi functional it’s even better that nothing matches!

Here’s the mood board for her space so you can see the items I picked to go with what she already had…

I played on the black and white furniture she already had and added natural color (leather, wood and metal) along with a fabric covered bench for a pop of color that wouldn’t detract from her photography. Voila! What do you think?

I won’t send off a project to a client until I have done my best and that usually means I have to wait for that stroke of genius to hit me. Cliche, corny, why, yes, but very truthful.

So here is one of my recent projects. Angel wanted some help with her living/ dining room combo space.

So I looked and looked at this picture. Just wondering how I could make it better. Then I got it…

What I wanted in the space was to draw attention to the height of the ceiling. When you walk up to the home, you don’t know that this big room is here waiting to welcome you in. Now you do with the addition of beams on the ceiling (and yes, faux beams are acceptable for this use. The ceiling is high enough that even Shaquille O’Neill won’t get close enough to tell you any different).

I mixed wood, metal, sisal, leather and linen together for an eclectic modern and colorful design. The bold wall color allows for the colorful artwork to POP and draw you in. The classic lines of the furniture allows for the room to be updated in years to come with accents.

I don’t know, I am pretty happy about this one. Stay tuned for the next one

Who doesn’t want a Pink Christmas? Yeah, Elvis Presley talked about a Blue Christmas, but if he hung out with Pinky Tuscadero, I’d bet he changed his tune. Okay, let’s end this weird trip down memory lane.

Back to Pink Christmas…I know, you’re still burping up Thanksgiving. I know. But hello! You can’t wait till last minute if you want to be hot to trot with your Pink Christmas, can you? No, you can’t. ;-p

One day I dream of having a white tree and an aluminum tree. Yes, my dreams are pitiful by some measures, but I can bet I’d find at least 1.375 people who share this dream.

So, being as I was in a pinky mood, the tree had to be muy pink. And do you know how hard it is to find a pink tree topper? Ugh, you’d think Martha Stewart would have filled that niche by now. Pfft.

I have a Pinterest Board all about my love of interesting walls and it includes quite a few stenciled walls.

For me, the food is way more important, but I guess we should decorate the space for the rest of the family, right? Right.

The funny thing, or rather the good thing, about Thanksgiving decorations are Autumn/Fall decorations, too. Add a cornucopia or a turkey… BOOM! Done.
