It seem to me that the arrogance when explaining why some designers are priced as such compared to other services provided. Some can be justified with money spent on education. It works for some professionals yes, but not all come across as professionals. Who decides and crowns the designer judge and jury? No one ever said all designers were snotty. It is a fact that most are! So, those who have a craft skill living where there is high demand and not many in the field, should the designer feel justified in pressuring the upholsterer to lower prices? It seems greedy to me!!!!It does not take a degree to use your common sense and humility. When dealing with very personal parts of peoples lives such as allowing a stranger into you home to provide a service.

Thanks for stopping by!

You know, maybe I'll have to give it another shot. It's must be like thrift stores, you never know what day you will find the most awesome find!

Cute blog!

I can not lie...I love the Pottery Barn Outlet. I know the deals are not typically incredibly discounted, but I can get past that. On rare occasion you will find something amazing, so it's worth the hunt.

I sure wish I knew! My only suggestion is to contact people who do estate sales or those who specialize in antiques. They would be your best source of information :) Good luck!

...okay, so how does one know if their clock is actually a death clock....do they have to test the metal? Curious because I have one that was passed down thru the family and I was told by an antique dealer that it could be one. Any suggestions? I live in a small town that doesn't have any experts! thanks!

I work in a glass shop that specializes in custom glass projects of all types. I cringe when designers come in because they inevitably want something fabulously custom (which we CAN do), but they become angry (and often rude) when I explain it's not nearly free nor can it be done in one day. Custom = Expensive + Slow; I've never met an interior designer in the course of my job who seemed to grasp that simple formula.
